Function Matters Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization built on the belief that every child deserves access to developmental support and that support should be fun, accessible, and free of barriers. Founded by Marjorie Louis, a licensed occupational therapist and mom, the foundation exists to bridge the gap between clinical knowledge and everyday families particularly those in underserved communities who are often left out of the conversation.
Our vision is a world where parents feel empowered, children feel seen, and development happens naturally through play, community, and connection. Everything we create, from our community events to our educational resources, is rooted in that vision.

Function matters exists to make foundational developmental skills accessible and attainable for children of all abilities and backgrounds. We believe building functional skills should be fun and naturally integrated into a child's daily routine at home and in the community. Through engaging tools, strategies, and community education, we bring developmental knowledge out of the therapy room and into the hands of families and communities because every child has the capacity to grow, and no child should have to fall through the cracks to get support.
